Dans les r\u00e9gimes d\u00e9mocratiques, les n\u00e9olib\u00e9raux n’ont eu de cesse de lutter contre la d\u00e9mocratie, mais se contentent en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la restreindre et de la manipuler, tout en pr\u00e9servant, \u00e0 destination des mod\u00e9r\u00e9s, un semblant de d\u00e9mocratie. La grande chercheuse Wendy Brown r\u00e9sumait ainsi le projet d’Hayek, un des penseurs fondateurs du n\u00e9olib\u00e9ralisme (il vaudrait d’ailleurs mieux parler ici au pluriel tant il s’est av\u00e9r\u00e9 prot\u00e9iforme) :<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Plus qu’un projet visant \u00e0 \u00ab tout ramener \u00e0 l’\u00e9conomie \u00bb (NdT : la traduction ici ne rend pas du tout la dynamique de l’expression : \u00ab\u00a0\u201ceconomizing everything\u201d), comme je l’ai soutenu dans Undoing the Demos, le n\u00e9olib\u00e9ralisme hayekien est un projet moral et politique visant \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger les hi\u00e9rarchies traditionnelles en niant le domaine social comme domaine de justice et en restreignant radicalement les revendications d\u00e9mocratiques envers les \u00c9tats.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Mais il ne s’agit plus seulement ici d’une lutte sur le terrain symbolique ou des institutions, ni m\u00eame de manipulation de l’opinion et de l’information. Il s’agit d’une \u00e9viction de la d\u00e9mocratie au sens litt\u00e9ral, mat\u00e9riel, physique, au sens de l’\u00e9viction des d\u00e9mocrates eux-m\u00eame. C’est ainsi qu’on bascule dans tout autre chose (bien que ce tout autre chose soit la cons\u00e9quence de d\u00e9cennies de nihilisme n\u00e9olib\u00e9ral) : les violences fascistes physiques. Ainsi, dans nombre de pays non-d\u00e9mocratiques, ou pseudo-d\u00e9mocratiques, on r\u00e9duit au silence par la violence – l’emprisonnement, l’empoisonnement, la calomnie publique, et parfois l’assassinat pur et simple.<\/p>\n

N’oublions jamais qu’une des diff\u00e9rences sp\u00e9cifiques du fascisme c’est la violence physique, la brutalit\u00e9. \u00c9rig\u00e9e en valeur (masculiniste). Le pouvoir fasciste meut des corps, les mod\u00e8le, les dresse, les humilie, les torture et les mutile.<\/p>\n

(Beaucoup de d\u00e9mocraties sont en train de devenir des pseudo-d\u00e9mocraties, et d’autres encore, comme le gouvernement Trump verse carr\u00e9ment dans le fascisme, suivant assez logiquement le mod\u00e8le des pays autoritaires, et renversant de mani\u00e8re presque ironique le projet des ann\u00e9es 70 et 80 d’une conqu\u00eate irr\u00e9sistible de la d\u00e9mocratie sur la plan\u00e8te enti\u00e8re en son contraire)<\/p>\n

La prochaine \u00e9tape serait donc l’arrestation arbitraire pure et simple des \u00e9lus de l’opposition les plus d\u00e9rangeants pour l’administration Trump. Et n’oublions pas que cette sc\u00e8ne en se d\u00e9roule pas au Texas ou en Oklahoma, mais \u00e0 Los Angeles, bastion d\u00e9mocrate, autrement dit, sur les terres de l’ennemi : l’envoi de l’arm\u00e9e pour r\u00e9primer de soi-disant \u00e9meutes (en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des manifestations d’opposants \u00e0 la politique raciste de d\u00e9portation des \u00ab\u00a0migrants\u00a0\u00bb) est typiquement une forme de guerre, une guerre qu’on peinerait presque \u00e0 qualifier d’ int\u00e9rieur\u00a0\u00bb (dans un syst\u00e8me d’\u00e9tats f\u00e9d\u00e9r\u00e9s !)<\/p>\n
