\u00c0 tous ceux que les hypoth\u00e8ses ontologiques des anthropologues contemporains fascinent, tous les lecteurs qui font leur miel des ouvrages de Philippe Descola, Tim Ingold ou Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, je ne saurais trop conseiller la lecture du livre que le chercheur danois Rane Willerslev a consacr\u00e9 aux populations Yukaghirs.<\/p>\n

Les Yukaghirs, qui habitent actuellement un territoire situ\u00e9 en Sib\u00e9rie orientale, le long du fleuve Kolyma, se comptent de nos jours \u00e0 un millier et demi de personnes (chiffre \u00e0 relativiser dans la mesure o\u00f9 il est fr\u00e9quent dans ces r\u00e9gions d’adopter une \u00ab\u00a0identit\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb ethnique diff\u00e9rente au gr\u00e9 des al\u00e9as de la vie, celle d’une ethnie voisine par exemple, et ce plusieurs fois dans une existence. \u00c0 l’\u00e9poque des Soviets, il valait mieux se d\u00e9clarer Russe aupr\u00e8s de l’\u00c9tat, mais de nos jours, il est plus avantageux pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de quotas de chasse importants d’affirmer son identit\u00e9 Yukhagir).<\/p>\n

Ce sont avant tout des chasseurs de rennes, d’\u00e9lans, et d’ours, mais aussi des trappeurs et pi\u00e9geurs de zibelines. Les groupes de chasseurs passent de longues p\u00e9riodes de l’ann\u00e9e, y compris en hiver, dans la for\u00eat, \u00e0 l’\u00e9cart des villages. Rane Willerslev a fait beaucoup plus qu’observer les pratiques de chasse des Yukhagirs : il est devenu un chasseur et pi\u00e9geur lui-m\u00eame, adoptant les techniques autochtones, y compris le mim\u00e9tisme, qui consiste \u00e0 attirer la proie en imitant sa mani\u00e8re de se mouvoir et en adoptant son point de vue.<\/p>\n

Ce livre constitue une r\u00e9flexion radicale sur l’animisme, radicale en ce sens qu’elle s’efforce de r\u00e9sister autant qu’il est possible \u00e0 nos tendances ethnocentristes inconscientes (t\u00e2che qui, d’une certaine fa\u00e7on, constitue l’essence de l’enqu\u00eate anthropologique). Le mim\u00e9tisme est non seulement au c\u0153ur des pratiques de chasse, mais \u00e9galement le pivot de cette forme particuli\u00e8re d’animisme (qui, bien que suivant les grandes lignes de ce que Vivieros del Castro a appel\u00e9 le perspectivisme ou que Descola d\u00e9crivait comme \u00ab\u00a0Ressemblance des int\u00e9riorit\u00e9s \/ Diff\u00e9rence des physicalit\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb, ou unit\u00e9 des esprits, multiplicit\u00e9 des corps, s’en \u00e9carte n\u00e9anmoins au sens o\u00f9 l’identit\u00e9 des personnes n’est jamais fix\u00e9e th\u00e9oriquement, mais toujours relative \u00e0 un champ pratique, et donc assez fluctuante). Le monde des Yukhagirs est d’une grande complexit\u00e9, et repose sur un jeu de s\u00e9duction entre les esprits (parmi lesquels ceux des anc\u00eatres), les humains et les animaux, chacun \u00e9tant engag\u00e9 avec les autres dans des relations d’amour et de pr\u00e9dation : le danger qui p\u00e8se sur les hommes engag\u00e9s dans les processus de mimesis, c’est de perdre leur identit\u00e9 humaine, c’est-\u00e0-dire de se transformer ou de m\u00e9tamorphoser en ours, en \u00e9lan.<\/p>\n

Il s’agit de prendre l’animisme \u00ab\u00a0au s\u00e9rieux\u00a0\u00bb (mais, dans un article plus r\u00e9cent, Willerslev pr\u00e9cisera : \u00ab\u00a0not too seriously\u00a0\u00bb tout de m\u00eame – dans la mesure o\u00f9 les Yukhagirs eux-m\u00eames sont on ne peut plus \u00e9loign\u00e9 de tout esprit de dogme ou de toute construction id\u00e9ologique contraignante). L’auteur s’inscrit dans le grand d\u00e9bat initi\u00e9 par l’anthropologie contemporaine, pr\u00e9f\u00e9rant nettement, me semble-t-il, aux \u00e9difices n\u00e9o-structuralistes une r\u00e9flexion ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nologique qu’il tire de la pratique : et c’est au lecteur de le suivre en s’imaginant un fusil \u00e0 la main en train d’imiter la d\u00e9marche de l’\u00e9lan ou du renne.<\/p>\n

Je suis vraiment \u00e9tonn\u00e9 que ce livre n’ait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 traduit en fran\u00e7ais : il m\u00e9riterait vraiment de toucher un plus vaste public que le cercle des anthropologues, je pense notamment aux philosophes, mais aussi \u00e0 ceux qui s’int\u00e9ressent aux mani\u00e8res non-naturalistes de se rapporter au monde, et qui s’inqui\u00e8tent de la disparition de toutes ces cultures – dans le cas des Yukhagirs, la pr\u00e9occupation la plus cruciale \u00e9tant la fonte du perg\u00e9lisol dans la r\u00e9gion, qui modifiera certainement en profondeur, d’une mani\u00e8re sans doute plus radicale que n’avait pu le faire l’\u00e9tat sovi\u00e9tique, leur vie quotidienne.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
